Fall Sports

There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Siuslaw Sports this fall as 3 of the four active sports achieved playoffs or advanced to Championships rounds.  Viking volleyball ended their run in Sisters on Tuesday after a successful season under the tutelage of new head coach Kari Blake.  This evening under potentially rainy skies the Viking football team hosts Blanchet Catholic in the first round of the State Playoffs in 3A.  Viking Coach Sam Johnson says the Cavaliers are the type of team that likes to run the ball straight at you.  He says the team is much better than their record and the seeding at number 16.  The game begins at 7pm and can be heard on KCST beginning at 6:45.

Cross Country

Tomorrow the Viking Cross Country team will be at LCC in Eugene. Coach and Athletic Director Chris Johnson says everything this year has led up to this and he likes the team’s chances.

“We’ve had some great talks this week and I think we’re ready to go we’ll have a chance to win on both sides and we have individuals that can make the top 4 or 5 or the top 1, so like I said we’re just glad to be part of this and it’s been a great fall for Siuslaw athletics.”

The girl’s 5,000 meter run gets under way at 11:45, boy’s 5,000 meter race starts at 12:20.
