Viking Baseball
The Siuslaw Vikings were in Junction City yesterday to face the Tigers. Beau Erickson drove in the only run for the Vikings as Junction City put up 10 runs on 12 hits. Errors continue to plague the Vikings with 4 yesterday. Final 10-1.
The Viking ladies were able to get 11 runs across the plate yesterday, but couldn’t stop the Tigers from more than doubling their output. The lady tigers scored 23 on the Vikings.
Siuslaw Track and Field
The Sky-Em held a rare varsity meet on Tuesday in Coos Bay. Hunter Petterson took first in the 100 meter with a time of 11.53. Freshman Wesley Nicholls took second in the 400 meter followed by senior James Smith in third. Sam Ulrich took the top spot in the 800 meter with a time of 2:02.01. Jacob Blankenship took third with a PR of 2:06.65 followed by Chad Hughes in 4th. Sophomore Talan Ross took first in the 1500 meter at 4:47.91. Sophomore Noel Hernandez and senior Camp Lacouture took third and fourth in the 110 and 300 meters respectively. and Siuslaw took first place in the 4×400 relay. For the ladies it was senior Rylee Colton who took the 800 meter race with a PR of 2:25.83. in the 1500 meter it was a pair of Vikings that led with sophomore Corduroy Holbrook taking first followed by freshman Macy McNeill. In field events junior Jonathan Rose took the shot put at 41’ 0.75” he also took the top spot in the discus with a PR toss of 140’8”. Rose was not done with personal records on the day scoring another in the Javelin as he took first place with 149’3”. Senior Rhys Fleming was in second with 142’11”. Senior James Smith took second in the Triple Jump with a personal record best of 38’8.5”
Mapleton Track and Field
Mapleton Senior Joe Shepard took first place in the triple jump yesterday at Crow with a distance of 40′. He also took first place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 21.73 and was first in the Long jump with a jump of 18′-2″. Emily Neece won the shot put with a distance of 28′-02.5″
Ducks/Beaver Baseball
It was a pitcher’s duel on the mound last night for the Ducks and the Beavers. the score at PK park remained nothing-nothing until the top of the 7th when the Beavers scored on a sacrifice fly driving in one run. The Beavers added a second run in the top of the 8th with a solo homer by Justin Boyd. Final 2-0. The two teams meet again this weekend for a three game series in Corvallis.
