Coach Sam Johnson says despite losing 11 player to graduation last year, he is very excited about the new season of Viking football. Johnson says things are slowly coming together and he hopes to have the starting lineups set by Friday. One of the returning players has stood out according to the coach. Ian Sissel.
“He carries himself like he’s a state champion, he runs the ball like he’s a state champion, he runs the ball like he’s going to win every single game for us and he has done a great job of leading our team.”
Siuslaw’s first game will be at home against Newport on Friday September 2nd. They will play their first two games at home.
Emeralds Baseball
The Eugene Emeralds spattered hits throughout the night against the Tri-City Dust Devils. It ran the gamut of singles, doubles, triples and a homer in the 9-2 victory last night. First baseman Robert Emery hit his fifth home run of the season. Game two is this evening from Washington.
