Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior Cross Country runner Brayden Linton as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Coach Chris Johnson says it was Linton’s hard running and 13th place finish that cemented the boys state championship win on Saturday. Brayden finished with a time of 17:15.3 in the 5,000 meter run.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to Viking Volleyball standout Desi Tupua who was named first team all tournament team for the state and had 20 kills and 4 blocks in their three set win against Creswell on Friday
College Basketball
Oregon Ducks Men’s basketball was on the court for the first time last night against Florida A&M. The Ducks put up 80 points to A&M’s 45. Dante N’Faly led the duck with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Oregon State Beavers in their first matchup squeaked by Tulsa 73-70. Jordan Pope led the beav’s with 19 and was 5-5 on the floor and 2-4 from 3pt range.
The ladies were also on the court with the beavers over Hawaii at home 61-60. Lady Ducks beat Northwestern 100-57. Grace Van Slooten led the Ducks with 20
