Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Mapleton basketball player junior Keevyn Walker as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Keevyn scored a career high 30 points in Friday night’s 41-29 win over Powers.
Honorable Mention
Honorable Mention goes to Siuslaw Viking sophomore basketball player Sophia Montoya who scored 12 points in the Viking girl’s 35-24 win over Reedsport.
Viking Basketball
The Siuslaw Vikings will travel to Marshfield to take on the Pirates the girls are up first at 5:45 with a 5:30 pregame and the Boys follow.
Mapleton Sailors
Mapleton Sailors girls basketball defeated the McKenzie Eagles last night. Averie Walker had 16 oints for the Sailors, Morgan Milbret added 6 with 8 rebounds in the 40-15 win.
Sailor Boys basketball also won their bout with McKenzie 49-22. Senior Tristan Stewart had 18 points, sophomore Alex Burnett added 12. At 2-0 the Sailors will play Triangle Lake for the lead in the 1A Mountain West League. The games against Triangle Lake will air on KCFM this evening beginning at 5:15.
