Sandblasters
The Three Rivers Sandblasters were defeated by the North Coos Waterfront in game one of a double-header yesterday 8-3 despite some strong hitting from the team. Ethan Halpin went 7 innings for the Sandblasters giving up 5 hits and 8 runs striking out 7 and walking 5. Jordan Pitcher had 2 RBI’s in the game for the sandblasters. Jacob Mann had two walks and two stolen bases. The sandblasters had 6 stolen bases in the game.
Game two for the Sandblasters saw a different result as they put together a solid game to take the Waterfront 13-5. Three Rivers amassed 7 runs in the fourth inning. The first run came on a bases loaded walk then another when Riley Murphey was Hit by a pitch. Then Joel Sissel singled to score two runs and Andrew Jensen-Norman doubled, scoring 2 more. An error scored the final run in the inning. Jensen Norman started on the mound for the Sandblasters going 4 and 2/3rds innings giving up 5 runs and striking out 7. Micah Blankenship finished off the game in relief with 4 strike outs, three hits and no walks or runs.
The team is at home again on the 6th for the South Coos Nooks.
Emeralds
It was a tight game with great pitching in the battle between the Eugene Emeralds and the Everett Aqua Sox. The Aqua Sox blanked the Ems 1-0. The Sox gave up just 2 hits and struck out 13 on the night. Game three of the series is this evening.
