Beavers Transition to Game Prep; Ducks Start Morning Workouts

Beavers Transition to Game Prep

Oregon State University head football coach Jonathan Smith met with reporters after yesterday’s practice and said the team is progressing nicely.  He says there are still some communications issues that crept up in practice, but he says its part of the process getting ready for a new season.  He says the next several days will be a change in direction.

“We’d like to transition from Training camp to game prep.  We get with these guys on Thursday individually to coach and just kind of see where they’re at, their current role where we see it and moving forward what they got to emphasize to continue to grow.”

He says they will start looking at San Jose State which comes up on September 3rd on the road.

Ducks Start Morning Workouts

The Oregon Ducks were also moving ahead with their training. On Monday they moved practices to the morning after a scrimmage on Saturday and the day off on Sunday. Coaches said one focus is on a 70% completion rate for QB Bo Nix.  Assistant coach Will Stein says it is in the upper echelon of college sports, but Nix accomplished it last year and sees it as a good goal for this year.  The Ducks open their season on September 2nd at noon against Portland State at home.
