Ems Blank Hops
The Eugene Emeralds bats exploded last night in Hillsboro as the Ems managed 18 hits and brought 14 runs across the plate while holding the Hillsboro Hops to 6 hits and no runs. Several Ems players had multiple hits on the night and still left 8 men on base. Emeralds pitcher Trevor McDonald went 5 innings allowing only 3 hits for the win. The Ems will finish up the series this weekend with games tonight, tomorrow and Sunday and then return home for a series against Tri-City on Tuesday.
Sailor Volleyball
The Mapleton Sailors got their first matches underway yesterday at Falls City. The squad’s first matchup was against Falls City. Coach Molly Dooley says the girls fought hard, but came up short 14-25, 7-25 and 18-25. Junior Morgan Milbrett had 4 aces and two kills in the match. The second match was against Southwest Christian, the Sailors competed bur were outmatched 22-25, 12-25 and 15-25. Dooley says Milbrett once again stood out and Freshman Lucie Burruss did also. The Sailors will have their first league matchup today at Mapleton against Mannahouse Academy from Eugene, which is a new league school added this year.
Viking Volleyball
Siuslaw Viking volleyball will be in Marshfield today for the Marshfield Jamboree and then at home tomorrow for matches against Bandon and Coquille.
