Sailors Continue to Defeat League Opponents
The Mapleton Sailor Boys basketball met with Crow on Saturday. The two teams were undefeated in league play and the winner would be alone on top of the Mountain West Division. The game was a back and forth battle with neither team getting separation. At the half the Sailors had a 6 point lead and throughout the second half maintained the lead in a relatively low scoring game. It was not until the 4th quarter when senior Keevyn Walker for the Sailors hit two three-pointers that the Sailors got some separation. When the buzzer went off the Sailors had taken the victory 41-29 and are 10-0 in league play and 18-2 overall. Tomorrow in Mapleton is senior night as the Sailors take on the McKenzie Eagles beginning at 5:30.
The Sailor girls also got a victory in their battle with Crow coming out on top 50-23 giving them a 7-3 record in league play.
Vikings Loss to Sisters
The Siuslaw Viking boys suffered a tough loss on the road on Friday falling to the Sisters Outlaws 57-62 on the road. The team has a tough battle to make the playoffs, but are numerically still in the hunt at 3-5. Remaining is two games against Pleasant Hill, one against La Pine and finishing off the regular season against Creswell. The first Pleasant Hill meeting is tomorrow. The Viking Girls will start off the night at 6pm. Coast Radio will cover the games beginning at 5:45.
Wrestling Results
Viking wrestlers were on the Mat for Special district duals on Friday and Saturday. At 144 poiunds Leo Rpbertson went 7-1 in the tournament. Jacob Mann at 175 also went 7-1. At 190 Dayne Muller went 8-0.
Girls matches were cancelled.
College Hoops
The Oregon Ducks fell to UCLA on Saturday 63-71 and the Oregon State Beavers lost to USC 54-82.
