Viking Baseball
The Siuslaw Vikings remain undefeated on the season and 3-0 in League play after a double header in Creswell last night. In game one the Vikings dominated the Bulldogs in a shortened game winning 19-4 and enacting the 10 run rule for the 4th straight game. The second game the Vikings led 3-0 after 4 innings with Micah Blankenship on the mound. In the 5th the Bulldogs break a one hitter game with two runs and Blankenship pitches through the 6th inning. In the bottom of the 7th Jacob Mann comes in in relief for the Vikings leading 4-2. The Bulldogs put another run on the board and with two outs and runners in scoring position Mann delivers a 1-2 pitch to Creswell’s Landon Palmer.
The Vikings survive and keep their win streak in tact. The Vikings will play in a tournament next at taft beginning April 27th, but will be back to league play on April First on KCST against La Pine.
Siuslaw Softball was on the mound yesterday against Creswell. The Vikings dropped both games of the double header 12-6 and 11-0. They face Waldport next on March 25th.
Duck First Round Win
The Oregon Ducks kept their first round win streak alive in the NCAA tournament yesterday defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks. Jermaine Couisnard scored a career high 40 points in the 87-73 win. The Ducks will now face Coach Dana Altman’s alma mater Creighton tomorrow. The game time has not yet been announced.
College Baseball
The Ducks and Beavers will be on the mound beginning today the Ducks will face Arizona at home for a three game series and the Beavers will host the Washington Huskies with a 6:30 pregame this evening. Then a 1:30 pregame on Saturday and a 12:30 pregame on Sunday all games will be on KCFM.
Lady Beavers
After 2 weeks on the bench the lady Beavers will be back on the court in the NCAA Tournament today to face Eastern Washington. That game will be on ESPNU with a 5 pm tipoff.
Siuslaw Track and Field
Yesterday’s Siuslaw Icebreaker was more about distance for the Siuslaw Vikings than speed. Although a couple of Vikings placed 2nd and third in the 200 meters Wesley Nicholls and Ray Brito Xilot took those spots respectively. Talan ross place third in the 800 meters and Braydon took the top spot in the 1500 and third in the 3000. Kale Jensen took third in the 110 meter hurdles with Justin Allen on his tail for 4th. in the 300 meter hurdles it was Will Johnson who stole the trophy. The 4×100 and 4×400 go to the Vikings. Landon Severy took third in the discus with a personal record 110’1” in the high jump 2nd,3rd and 4th place went to Vikings kale Jenson, Davian Frazier and Justin Allen and the Vikings swept the top 3 spots in the Pole Vault with Will Johnson and Justin Allen both clearing 12’6” and Talan Ross with 11’6” Kale Jensen took the long jump with a 19’5” jump. Will Johnson took the Triple jump at 41’6.5” followed in second by Justin Allen.
For the Girls, Adylin Holbrook took 3rd in the 800 meter and Maya Wells took second in the 1500. The 3000 meter race saw Addison McNeill and Macy McNeill finish in 2nd and 3rd. sister Danin and Jane Lacouture took 1st and 2nd in the shot put with Danin leading with a 33’2” toss, Jane threw a 32’2” show both personal records.
