Track and Field

The Siuslaw Viking Track and field team was at Sisters on Saturday and several athletes performed well.  Juniors Wesley Nicholls Ray Brito-Xilot took first and second place in the 200 meters with Nicholls garnering a personal record in the top spot with a time of 23.49.  junior Charles Nelson finished in fourth place.  In the 400 meters it was Nicholls again in the top spot followed by fellow Viking senior Derrick Vanduch. Senior Dylan Jensen finished 3rd in the 800 meters and Brayden Linton finished 6th in the 1500. Sophomore Kale Jensen took first in the 110 meter hurdles and sophomore Will Johnson took first in the 300 meter hurdles.  The 4×100 relay team of Johnson, Nicholls, Vanduch and Brito-Xilot took first and the 4×400 team of Brito-xilot, Jensen, Vanduch and Nicholls took first.  Junior Maximus Reynolds took second in the Shot Put with a personal record of 39’3.5”

Kale Jensen scored a personal record with a first place finish in the High Jump at 6’ and Dylan Jensen hit a personal record in the pole vault snagging first place at 13’3”  Will Johnson won the triple jump with a 41’5” jump. For the girls Maya Wells took third in the 1500 meters and Allison Hughes and Addison McNeil took second and third respectively in the 3000 meter.  Sisters Danin Lacouture and Jane Lacouture took first and second place in the shot put.  Danin scored a personal record with a 33’6” toss. The pair also scored a 3rd and 4th place finish with Danin taking third with a toss of 95’ another personal record.

 

Mapleton high school was at the Aaron and Marie Jones Invitational on Saturday at McKenzie High School. Tristan Stewart finished in third place in the Javelin with a 96’2” toss. Sophomore Natalie Stevens took first in the 800 meters and second place finishes in the 400 and 1500. Junior Evelynn McMaster took third in the shot put at 22’10” and second in the discus at 57’7”

D1 Baseball

The OSU Beavers swept the Arizona State Sundevils in baseball over the weekend culminating in yesterday’s win with a 9-7 victory. They meet Portland next on Tuesday.

The Oregon Ducks take two of three from the Bruins in California.  Yesterday’s 6-3 victory also saw Jacob Walsh break the all time home run record for a duck with a single homer in the third inning.  The Ducks have two games scheduled against Sacramento State tomorrow and Wednesday.
