Jaida Ross – AOTY
It was announced that Oregon Duck track and field standout and holder of the collegiate shot put record was named Athlete of the year for the west region, and yesterday Jaida Ross was recognized at the 2024 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country National Women’s Field Athlete of the Year. Ross joins Brianne Thiesen in the honor. Theisen won it in 2010 and 2012. Ross in addition to the shot put, won the NCAA discus title championship this year.
Ems Fall Back in Standings
The first half of the season for the Eugene Emeralds started out 14-4, but the emeralds have since slid to third place with a 31-30 record 5.5 games out of first place. Their latest loss on Sunday to the Everett Aqua Sox takes them out of the first half playoff picture. They lost the last 5 games against the Aqua Sox. They head to Spokane for a 7 game series beginning this evening.
