Two North Bend teens are dead after a single vehicle crash on a beach access road in Coos County. Police say 18-year old David Forbess and 16-year old Marissa Esch both died at the scene after the older Jeep Wagoneer driven by Forbes left the road and struck a log. Sergeant Pat Downing with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office said it appeared speed was a major factor in the crash, neither drugs nor alcohol were involved. The crash happened at approximately 9:00 PM Wednesday on the Horsefall Road, a popular access to the Oregon Dunes Recreation Area. Downing said the Jeep was equipped with seat belts, but it’s not clear if they were in use.
