Eugene’s Jace Peterson stole home in the first inning to put the first run on the board for the Emeralds; the lead changed hands two more times and the Emeralds held off a two-run Yakima rally in the eighth for a fast and furious 7-6 win last night.
The win, coupled with an Everett loss to Spokane broke a tie in the West Division of the Northwest League putting the Ems back on top by one game with three games remaining in the regular season.
The Emeralds will be in Yakima through Saturday night… then open up the divisional playoff series on the road Monday. It’s first in 11 years. The location and opponent is yet to be determined, but the second game of the series will be at PK Park Tuesday. Game three, if needed, will also be in Eugene.
