After a lackluster performance in the first three quarters, the Oregon State Beavers showed some offensive proficiency in the final period, making up a 15-point deficit to tie the game at 21-21 at the end of regulation.
After taking a 28-21 lead after their first overtime possession, it was up to the Beaver defense to hold the Hornets. Unfortunately, Sacramento State quarterback Jeff Fleming found his receiver in the end zone for a touchdown, then connected on the subsequent conversion for the win.
True freshman running back Malcom Agnew, who only had 32 yards rushing in the first half, ended with 33 carries, 223 yards and three touchdowns.
