Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say two suspects arrested in
California for a Washington state slaying are also suspects in the
killing of an Oregon teen who somehow crossed paths with them as
they were on the run. State police also said yesterday that
19-year-old Cody Myers died from gunshot wounds to the head and
chest. David Joseph Pedersen and his girlfriend, Holly Grigsby,
were both arrested in northern California on Wednesday.
TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) – A man’s 911 call to say he had just shot
his wife sent police and SWAT officers racing to a Troutdale home
east of Portland. Nearby homes were evacuated as hostage
negotiators tried repeatedly to contact the man, who made his call
at about 11 a.m. yesterday. SWAT officers went into the home
Thursday afternoon and found a man and woman dead. They were not
immediately identified. An investigation is under way.
MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) – Police in McMinnville say a 12-year-old
baby sitter caused the traumatic head injury that killed a
16-month-old boy. Capt. Dennis Marks said yesterday that family
members brought the younger child to an urgent care clinic Monday
evening. The boy was then taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital,
where he was pronounced dead. Marks says the 12-year-old had been
baby-sitting several children living in the home.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman says
a woman died after being trapped in an upstairs apartment when an
aggressive fire broke out in a two-story building. Two other people
were injured when they jumped from a second-story window. Arriving
fire crews tried to search for the woman yesterday but were driven
back by temperatures that spokesman Paul Corah says hit 1,100
degrees. No names were released.
