PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Triple-A reports the average price of
gasoline in Oregon is $3.79 a gallon, down 4 cents in the past
month but 34 cents higher than the national average. Some metro
prices from AAA today — Portland $3.76, Salem $3.73,
Eugene-Springfield $3.82, Medford-Ashland $3.86.
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – The National Weather Service is
forecasting the first freeze of the season this week for parts of
Eastern Washington, including the Yakima Valley. Forecasters say a
cold front moving over the region will likely drop temperatures
below freezing tomorrow night in the lower Columbia Basin, and
could affect crops in Hermiston, Ore.
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s roughly 1,150 licensed fishing,
hunting and adventure guides are poised to accept some self-imposed
professional and ethical standards to help the public pick
legitimate guides and weed out rogue guides. Tomorrow, the Oregon
State Marine Board votes on changes that represent the first major
expansion of its guide program since it was formed in 1984.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Researchers at Oregon State University say
in a new study that managing forests for biofuel production will
increase carbon dioxide emissions from forests. The Oregonian
reports the OSU study shows removing forest debris for bioenergy
use will release more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere than current
practices burning it or leaving it in place.
