The Siuslaw boys’ cross country team delivered as expected Saturday afternoon, running away with the OSAA 4A state championship in Eugene. Matthew Campbell was 2nd individually with a time of 15:54. Mitchell Butler was three seconds behind in third place, followed by Hayden Schaffner in tenth; Mack Marbas 12th; and Seth Campbell 19th. The Vikings dominated with 36 points. The second place trophy went to North Valley with 87.
For the girls, the Vikings ended in sixth place. Katy Potter was third individually with a time of 19:23.
On the volleyball court… It came down to the final game in Klamath Falls and Siuslaw came away with the 17-15 win over the Henley Hornets. Siuslaw now advances to the final eight in the OSAA 4A playoffs, facing number one ranked Crook County Cowgirls Friday morning, eight AM, at LCC in Eugene.
Things got off to a slow start Friday night for the Vikings on the gridiron against the Hidden Valley Mustangs. Siuslaw led at the half 24-19, then held the Mustangs scoreless in the second half making their way to a 45-19 victory in a regional playoff game at home.
The win sets up an opening round matchup between the number one ranked Vikings and the 16th seeded Molalla Indians in Florence this coming Friday.
