Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A Medford couple has pleaded not guilty to
charges of neglecting and mistreating their four children who were
found in filthy conditions, locked in a room at their home. The
Mail Tribune reports police went to the home of Jeramy Allen Hon
and Cassandra Lynn Regain Thursday after receiving an anonymous
report the children were neglected. Police said the children – ages
6 months to 4 years old – appeared neglected and were using a
heater vent as a toilet because they did not have access to a
restroom.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A Marion County grand jury has indicted a
Keizer man on murder by abuse charges in the death of his
4-year-old stepson. If convicted, Gerardo Chavarria would be given
a life sentence with a minimum term of 25 years. He’ll be arraigned
Thursday. The Statesman Journal reports he told police the boy fell
down stairs Nov. 5 at their apartment. The mother was not home at
the time. The state medical examiner’s office says the boy died of
blunt force head trauma and it was homicide, not an accident.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – An 80-year-old man was burned and 200
quail were killed in a propane explosion at a barn near Oregon
City. Clackamas Fire District 1 says crews were dispatched
yesterday afternoon to the barn where the explosion had knocked out
a wall. The fire department says the man had turned on a gas heater
but let too much time pass before he was able to get a flame lit.
He was airlifted to a hospital in Portland with burns.

WOODBURN, Ore. (AP) – A helicopter crash north of Woodburn has
injured one person. Paul Iverson with the Woodburn Fire District
tells The Associated Press the helicopter was carrying Christmas
Trees when it crashed for an unknown reason yesterday afternoon.
The victim is an adult male but has not been identified. The Salem
Statesman Journal reports the victim was flown to the hospital.
