PORTLAND, Ore. – Anti-Wall Street protesters are planning to get
an early start today as try to blockade West Coast ports from
Anchorage to San Diego. Protesters plan to march on ports in
Portland, Seattle, Tacoma and the Canadian city of Vancouver, as
well as further South. The union representing longshoremen is
distancing itself from the shutdown effort.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police are investigating the discovery of
a body following an explosion in Canby. The blast occurred
yesterday evening and police cordoned off the area after calling in
the metro explosives unit. Firefighters reaching the scene found a
man with massive injuries and he died en route to a hospital.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland firefighters say a 70-year-old
woman has died, apparently from toxic smoke from oxygen tubing that
was melted by a cigarette. KATU-TV says firefighters were called to
the home at the Mobile Estates late Saturday night and found a man
performing chest compressions on his wife, whose name was not
released.
SALME, Ore. (AP) – Marion County authorities have determine that
a fire that engulfed a recreational vehicle, killing two people
inside, was caused by the incorrect use of a propane appliance. The
victims were identified as 26-year-old David Campbell and
35-year-old Dawn Bailey. Investigators say the fire spread quickly
through the RV.
