PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland’s gang enforcement team and
detectives with Vancouver’s safe streets task force have arrested a
man in Vancouver who is suspected of a shooting in Portland. The
Columbian reports the 36-year-old was arrested on warrants accusing
him of attempted murder, assault and being a felon in possession of
a firearm. A man was wounded in the leg in the gang-related
shooting Oct. 30 outside a Portland cafe.
JOSEPH, Ore. (AP) – State wildlife officials say wolves from
northeast Oregon’s Imnaha pack have killed a cow for the second
time this week. A spokeswoman tells The Oregonian that a yearling
cow was found dead Tuesday on private land. The latest killing was
the sixth confirmed livestock loss to wolves since Oct. 5. A “kill
order” has been issued for the Imnaha pack’s alpha male and a
younger wolf, but it was blocked by a lawsuit.
UNDATED (AP) – Oregon Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley have
introduced a bill to add 60,000 acres of federal forest land to the
Wild Rogue Wilderness. The current wilderness lies along the Rogue
between the communities of Marial and Agness. The addition would
extend wilderness protection against logging and development
upriver to Grave Creek. A similar bill is pending in the House.
LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) – Cowlitz County deputies in Washington
state say the badly decomposed body of a man has been found on a
Columbia River bank at Longview. An employee of the Millennium Bulk
Terminal plant found the remains yesterday. Deputies say the body’s
condition makes it unlikely that it is a man who fell from a boat
on the Columbia River last weekend near St. Helens, Ore.
