Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Police say four people were arrested after
they pitched tents on Eugene City Councilor George Poling’s lawn
objecting to his vote to close an Occupy Eugene campsite. Poling
tells the Register-Guard that on Sunday night he was awakened by
the noise of people ringing his doorbell, banging on the side of
his house and yelling.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a man broke into an Oregon
couple’s home and started swinging an unlit Tiki torch while they
slept Christmas morning. Aaron Kirchmann of Aloha tells KGW-TV that
he awoke to find the man wearing nothing but socks and black shorts
that may have been his underwear. Kirchmann says he pulled a gun
from his nightstand and aimed it at the screaming intruder.Police
say they arrested a 28-year-old registered sex offender who was
still carrying the Tiki torch. They say the suspect was probably
under the influence of drugs.
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – A Pendleton police officer is on
administrative leave after an alleged bar fight. The East Oregonian
reports that the officer was off-duty when the fight was reported
at The Hut Restaurant & Lounge. The investigation will fall to the
Oregon State Police, so Pendleton police can avoid conflicts of
interest.
WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) – Walla Walla police are investigating a
gang fight on Christmas Eve that left a man with a stab wound near
the base of his skull. The Walla Walla Union Bulletin reports that
police arrested 19-year-old Jesse Corono on investigation of
two-counts of first-degree assault. Police say the fight broke out
among members of the same gang on Saturday.
