PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average
price of gasoline in Oregon is $3.89 a gallon. That’s up 23 cents
in a week and 41 cents in a month. Some metro prices from the
survey — Portland $3.90, Salem $3.90, Eugene-Springfield $3.95,
and Medford-Ashland $3.96.

TUALATIN, Ore. (AP) – The Red Cross is helping 22 people
displaced by a fire in their apartment building at Tualatin. Three
residents escaped the flames yesterday afternoon by jumping from a
balcony, about 10 feet off the ground. The Oregonian reports they
were treated for smoke inhalation at the nearby Legacy Meridian
Park Hospital.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man and his dog are injured after an
overnight house fire in Portland. Police told firefighters the man
may have re-entered his burning home to rescue his pet. Portland
Fire and Rescue says firefighters found the man outside the home
with burns to his hands and arms. He was taken to the Legacy Oregon
Burn Center. The dog was treated by firefighters with a pet-oxygen
mask.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Gov. John Kitzhaber is set to receive
legislation requiring university employees and coaches, as well as
youth-organization workers, to report child sexual abuse to police
or the state Department of Human Services. The Senate unanimously
approved the bill on Friday after the state House dropped
youth-organization volunteers from the bill’s requirements.
