CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Garrett Sim had a season-high 25 points
to help Oregon hold on for a 74-73 win over Oregon State last
night. DeVoe Joseph and Olo Ashaolu (ah-SHOW’-loo) added 16 points
apiece for the Ducks. Ahmad Starks had 18 points and Angus Brandt
16 for the Beavers. Oregon State came back from a 10-point deficit,
cutting the margin to two on Devon Collier’s basket off a rebound
with 41 seconds remaining. Ashaolu made one of two free throws with
9.9 seconds left.
SEATTLE (AP) – Regina Rogers scored 21 points and freshman
standout Jazmine Davis added 17 of her 21 in the second half as the
Washington women posted their 34th consecutive win over rival
Washington State with a 60-56 win yesterday. The Huskies continued
their remarkable dominance over the Cougars thanks to a big first
half that proved enough to hold off Washington State’s second-half
charges. The Huskies led by nine at halftime and pushed the
advantage to 14 in the second half.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Janoris Jenkins and Cliff Harris were two of
the nation’s top cornerbacks before being kicked off their
respective college teams. Both went to the NFL scouting combine
hoping to persuade teams to take a chance on them. Harris broke up
23 passes, averaged 18.8 yards per punt return and set an Oregon
record with four punt return touchdowns as a sophomore. He was
dismissed from the team last December for violating team rules.
