Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
(Eds: Updates 1st item.)

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Legislature wrapped up its work
late last night and has adjourned for the year, closing the curtain
on a 34-day session marked by budget cuts and partisan fights over
health care and education. In the final hours, lawmakers unveiled a
compromise plan to help distressed homeowners facing foreclosure,
which ultimately passed the House and Senate and was headed to the
governor’s desk. Lawmakers also approved a plan to rebalance the
state budget.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Senate has approved a measure
implementing an online marketplace where individuals and small
businesses can shop for health insurance coverage. The vote
yesterday sends the measure to Gov. John Kitzhaber, who has
championed it. Proponents hope the marketplace, called a health
insurance exchange, will help connect people with affordable health
coverage and allow them to easily compare the options available to
them.

LA PINE, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a 17-year-old boy has been
detained on suspicion of posting a threat on social media to shoot
other students at La Pine High School. The Deschutes (duh-SHOOTS’)
County sheriff’s office says the 17-year-old boy was picked up
before classes began yesterday. Officials say the high school is
secure and held classes were as usual Monday. One girl told KTVZ
she had seen the Facebook posting the night before but since she
knows the student, she didn’t think anything of it.

MILWAUKIE, Ore. (AP) – Neighbors tried but couldn’t rescue a man
from a fire at the home where he had lived nearly 60 years.
Clackamas Fire District 1 also says firefighters weren’t able to
find the man right away in the Sunday evening fire. The Oregonian
says 91-year-old Jim Saltos was eventually found dead of smoke
inhalation. Investigators said yesterday the fire was accidental
and caused by a wood stove. Damage is estimated at $70,000.
