A rough first inning yesterday proved too much for the Vikings to overcome as they fell to the South Umpqua Lancers 4-2 in the Far West opener for both teams.
On the Softball Diamond the runs came in pairs for Siuslaw in Myrtle Creek as they downed the Lancers 6-3. Lacey DeSantis was three-for-five with a double, one run scored and two stolen bases.
On the college diamond… Michael Conforto hit a pair of three-run home runs, including one in the tenth inning as Oregon State downed Nevada 10-7 to take the two-game series in Reno.
In Eugene, Jeff Gold worked five scoreless innings on the mound to help number 16 Oregon to a 4-1 victory over the San Francisco Dons yesterday.
