Things were looking grim for the Three Rivers Sandblasters by the end of the sixth inning yesterday in Dallas… they trailed West Salem 8-nothing, had struck out 15 times and committed a half dozen errors. The ‘Blasters then went on a late game rally, posting six hits and eight walks on the way to an eventual 14-8 win. Mike Bennett was three-for-four with a sacrifice fly, plus got the save on the mound. Nic Cole got the win in relief.
Game two yesterday went to West Salem 8-5. Raymond Jones was three-for-four at the plate with two runs scored. Ryan Smith and Jimmy Mack each had two hits; Smith was tagged for the loss on the mound. The Sandblasters will face the Canyon Crushers from North Salem tomorrow afternoon in Florence at four.
he Eugene Emeralds went two-for-three in their opening weekend at home against the Yakima Bears; opening with a 6-5 win Friday evening and backing that up with a 5-2 win Saturday. The Bears came out on top 7-2 yesterday afternoon at PK Park. The two teams meet again today and tomorrow.
