NEHALEM, Ore. (AP) – A 5-year-old Ocean City is undergoing a series of rabies shots after she was bitten by a coyote at Nehalem Bay State Park. The girl’s mother told KPIC the family was returning to its campsite Thursday evening when the animal nipped the girl’s back, breaking the skin. The coyote fled and the park has posted warning signs in the area.
SHERIDAN, Ore. (AP) – A pickup truck driver was killed in a collision with a church bus near Sheridan. Oregon State Police say no one on the bus was injured. Police say the 73-year-old man driving the truck drifted onto the shoulder of Highway 18 yesterday afternoon and was trying to regain control on the highway when he collided with the bus.
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – A motorcycle rider from Chilliwack, British Columbia, was killed in an accident yesterday afternoon near Pendleton. Oregon State Police say 60-year-old William Clifford Hallsworth was riding in a group of six cycles on Highway 37 when he drifted off the edge of the roadway. Police say he was trying to return to the pavement when he lost control.
BEND, Ore. (AP) – A Bend clean energy company says it will manage with the loss of state tax credits. IdaTech CEO Hal Koyama tells the Bend Bulletin that the company recently laid off 50 of its 140 employees worldwide. State lawmakers have recently reduced tax credits to clean energy companies due to the faltering economy. Gov. John Kitzhaber energy policy adviser Margi Hoffman says the state is operating in a very resource-constrained environment.
