PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland are investigating two separate deaths reported yesterday. Police say a city park ranger reported finding the body of an adult female in Washington Park. Detectives were processing the scene for evidence yesterday afternoon. Another woman’s body was along the train tracks in northeast Portland. Police say the death may be a drug overdose.

COQUILLE, Ore. (AP) – A Coos Bay high school basketball coach has pleaded guilty to third-degree rape after having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Eugene girl. The World in Coos Bay says Brogan F. Oswald was sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years of probation. Prosecutors dropped other charges including third-degree rape and sex abuse against Oswald.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Federal authorities say an Oregon ex-convict stole the identity of a former fellow inmate and used it to get a $400 federal tax return in the man’s name. The Register Guard says Randolph Del Calhoun Nelson pleaded not guilty to aggravated identity theft in federal court. He’s also accused of fraudulently obtaining federal income tax refunds for three others.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – With container ships avoiding Port of Portland because of a labor dispute, exporters of agricultural products must pay higher costs to get their cargo to alternate ports and ultimately to Asia. Companies such as SL Follen, a Portland-based exporter of hay and feed products, have paid upwards of $1,000 per container to reroute their cargo to Seattle.
