The Three Rivers Sandblasters split a pair of non-league games yesterday in Southern Oregon. First, at the Medford tournament they outlasted the Springfield Titans 7-5. Jake Thompson picked up the win on the mound in relief. Later in the afternoon, Three Rivers switched to Grants Pass for a pickup game… in addition to picking up, they gave up six runs in the sixth inning for an 8-6 loss to the Nuggets. Play in Medford continues through Sunday… the ‘Blasters will be back home Monday afternoon.
The Canadians snapped a three-game Eugene Emeralds win streak with an 8-2 victory last night in Vancouver. The Ems jumped to a one-run lead in the top of the first, but the Canucks steadily built a lead using nine hits and capitalizing on one Eugene error. The two teams meet again tonight and tomorrow. The Emeralds will make a three-day stop in Everett beginning Sunday before returning home on the Fourth.
