GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Nearly two years after his 16-month-old son’s death, a Grants Pass man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. KDRV reports the sentence comes for Patrick Hart two weeks after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Little Steven Hart died after swallowing dozens of benadryl pills while left unattended in September 2010. A year later Patrick Hart was charged when investigators determined his recklessness and negligence led to Steven’s death.
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – An eastern Oregon park host has been arrested for allegedly spying on women using the bathroom. The Eastern Oregonian reports that 54-year-old John Earl McBride was arrested at the Morrow/Grant County OHV Park after an undercover operation this week. He’s jailed on seven counts of first-degree criminal mischief and 15 counts of invasion of personal privacy.
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – Springfield police say that a man who escaped from a Douglas County jail remains on the loose after fighting with a police officer and evading gun fire after driving a stolen car toward another officer. The Register-Guard reports that police are eager to track down and arrest 32-year-old Thomas Ivan Grimes.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – TriMet says a bus driver who twice refused service to women with crying children has retired rather than be fired. Claudeen Hendren ordered a woman and her four children off her bus in Forest Grove last month after a fare dispute led to tears. The Forest Grove News-Times reports a union official says Hendren was upset and plans to file a labor complaint.
