PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 22-year-old Oregon man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for killing a 1-year-old girl. Jeffrey Edward Locker of Gresham earlier pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the death last August of Brooklyn Koy Saechao. Locker had told authorities the girl fell in the bathtub, but an autopsy determined the child likely didn’t receive her injuries in the manner that Locker described.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Clackamas County sheriff’s spokesman says an Oregon man and his golden retriever have been rescued unharmed from a steep slope along the Timberline Trail on Mount Hood. Search teams responded yesterday to a report that the dog owner had gone down the slope to retrieve his animal and both were stuck.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Miss Oregon pageant’s first runner-up has been crowned as the title holder for 2012 after the winner resigned when questions arose about whether she met residency requirements.
