CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Law enforcement authorities are investigating a security breach by an Oregon State University vendor. The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports the vendor provided check printing services in the cashier’s office and copied information from the database during software upgrades. School officials said they don’t believe the company acted maliciously.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A state appeals court has sided with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission in a lawsuit filed by discount food chain Grocery Outlet. The retailer operated for two decades under an exemption from Prohibition-era liquor regulations, which require alcohol manufacturers, distributors and retailers to be separate companies. Grocery Outlet must now end its practice of storing wine at a central warehouse for distribution.
AUMSVILLE, Ore. (AP) – A co-owner of an Oregon dairy farm says methane released from a methane digester “caught a spark,” resulting in an explosion and fire at two large methane tanks. Betty Bielenberg of Oakley Farms tells The Oregonian that no people or animals were hurt yesterday afternoon and that the fire was mostly out by the time firefighters arrived.
NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) – One of two dogs thought lost in the wreck of a fishing boat on the central Oregon coast has been found alive. Two men aboard the 48-foot vessel Two Mikes suffered minor injuries when it crashed into the north jetty at the mouth of Yaquina Bay late Sunday night and the body of a yellow lab named Bob was recovered. The other dog, a pit bull named Camo was found yesterday by a fisherman on the north jetty.
