Three Viking hitters combined for 23 kills and Siuslaw picked up their first win of the season on the volleyball court last night in Florence. Siuslaw won the first two games over Newport easily, 25-10 and 25-12 before losing game three 18-25. They then took the fourth game 25-22. Alex Dodson and Ashley Cole each had eight kills, Lona Dengler had seven, plus four service aces. The Vikings will be on the court in Reedsport tomorrow in the eight-team Dunes Classic. Pool play begins at ten; semi finals at four. The Mapleton Sailors begin their season this evening on the road against Siletz Valley.
Cross Country gets underway tomorrow for Viking Harriers at the Murv Fanning Invitational in Newport.
Prep football this evening… the Reedsport Braves will be in Rockaway against Nea-Kah-Nie. Mapleton will be in Sisters tomorrow at one where they’ll face Condon-Wheeler. Siuslaw has the weekend off.
On the college gridiron tomorrow number four Oregon will host the Fresno State Bulldogs at 3:30 with the pregame show on KCST set for two. The Oregon State Beavers will finally get their 2012 campaign under way tomorrow afternoon when they host the 13th ranked Wisconsin Badgers at one. The pregame show on KCFM gets underway at noon. By the way… ticket holders for last weekend’s Nichols State game are encouraged to hold on to them until a new date is selected.
