Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Officials say a former dean of music at the University of Oregon has died after she and a man were found injured at a home south of Eugene. Lane County authorities say deputies responding to a 911 call Friday found Anne Dhu McLucas and James Gillette. Both died. Gillette’s 36-year-old son faces murder charges.

SISTERS, Ore. (AP) – A wind-fanned wildfire southwest of Sisters has quickly spread over more than 1,500 acres and forced the evacuation of trails and campsites. The Pole Creek fire started four miles northeast of North Sister yesterday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Dockworkers and grain terminal operators have begun contract negotiations with far higher stakes than in the disputes that caused chaos at the Port of Portland this summer. The grain talks involve Puget Sound terminals and operations on the Columbia River – the nation’s top wheat export outlet.

CULVER, Ore. (AP) – Officials have called off their search of Lake Billy Chinook, after sonar equipment failed to turn up any sign of a Madras farmer who drowned while apparently trying to save his son after a boating accident. Seventy-three-year-old Gene Harris has not been seen since he jumped into the lake in an unsuccessful attempt to rescue his 37-year-old son Thursday.
