SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A former treasurer of the Stayton High School Booster Club has been charged with stealing money from the club. The Statesman Journal reports that more than $60,000 was reported missing almost a year ago. Marion County prosecutors say Dick Morley is charged with nine counts and is set for arraignment on Friday.
ALOHA, Ore. (AP) – Washington County sheriff’s deputies say a 17-year-old Aloha boy is dead after he was hit by a car that drove onto a sidewalk. The car then crashed through two yards and fences before coming to rest against a house. Deputies say Maxwell McGregor was dead at the scene yesterday afternoon. The driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) – South Lane County Fire & Rescue officials say a man suffered critical burns when his RV was destroyed by fire in Cottage Grove yesterday. Police say 49-year-old Mark Jacklich was listed in critical condition at the Oregon Burn Center in Portland. Officials said Jacklich was alone in the RV when the fire started, and may have been sleeping there.
OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – The Clackamas County sheriff’s office says a couple fought off a burglar who entered their home last night at Beavercreek. Deputies say a man was sitting in his home when the intruder walked through an open door. They began to fight and the homeowner called for his wife to get a gun. When she came into the room with a gun, the burglar punched her and ran off. The intruder remains at large.
