PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 46-year-old Portland man accused of threatening the life of President Barack Obama has pleaded guilty. Darryl James Swanson told U.S. District Judge Anna Brown yesterday that he was “in a terrible mental state at that time.” The Oregonian reports that Swanson pleaded guilty to one count of threatening the president of the United States, a charge that carries a maximum five years in prison. Sentencing is set for Dec. 12.
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon school bus driver has been hospitalized for observation after a crash involving his bus and a commercial truck hauling a crane. The Hillsboro School District says the driver had just dropped off students and was headed to the bus barn yesterday. Police say 64-year-old John Hummel of Forest Grove complained of neck and shoulder pain.
BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) – Beaverton police have arrested a registered nurse accused of selling drugs. Officer Mike Rowe said yesterday the department received complaints that 33-year-old Rachel Harp was selling meth and heroin at her home. He said officers searched Harp’s car and home and discovered the drugs, some packaged for sale.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Hundreds of medical marijuana cardholders in eastern and southern Oregon will have to find a new way to get their pot after authorities raided two of the state’s best-known suppliers and shut them down. Federal agents raided the High Hopes Farm in Jackson County this week. And state authorities from Oregon and Idaho last week shut down 45th Parallel, a marijuana cooperative in Ontario, Ore., that supplies the drug to residents of both states who hold Oregon marijuana cards.
