OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Police say a TriMet bus driver was attacked and stabbed by a passenger last night in Oregon City. The driver was able to pull over and three passengers came to his aid and held the attacker until police arrived. The Oregonian reports two of the men helping the driver also were stabbed and the third was bitten. The driver and three passengers were taken to hospitals while police arrested the suspect.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Marion County officials say engineering tests today, tomorrow and Friday at the Courthouse Square building in Salem may sound like gunfire. The Statesman Journal reports a contractor preparing repairs to the office building is driving probes into the concrete. The county building was closed two years ago because of structural defects.
WILSON, Wyo. (AP) – A truck driver from Oregon is dead after his brakes failed while descending Teton Pass in northwestern Wyoming. The Wyoming Highway Patrol said 36-year-old Jay Winn of Hines was pulling a car crusher down the pass on Sunday when he lost control of his semi and crashed. The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports that the investigation found that the truck was nearly 30,000 pounds overweight.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Lane County commissioners are discussing a resolution at today’s meeting to support a coal export terminal at Coos Bay. The Register-Guard reports the resolution acknowledges health and environmental concerns, but it comes down on the side of economic development.
