Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman in her 60s is suffering second-degree burns received in an overnight house fire in north Portland. Fire officials say firefighters had difficulty locating and extinguishing the flames because of large piles of clutter through the home. The woman was taken to Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center.
STEVENSON, Wash. (AP) – Remains found by a property owner clearing brush last month near Washougal have been identified as a man who had been missing since 1980. The Skamania County sheriff’s office says 39-year-old Kenneth P. Stovner lived about a half-mile away. Investigators are still trying to determine how he died.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Lane County sheriff’s officers say a baby briefly left unattended in a Eugene-area park has been reunited with a parent. The Register-Guard reports that deputies went to Emerald Park yesterday after the infant was found alone in a parking lot – in a child safety seat. Soon 911 got a call from another person reporting that a baby had accidentally not been put back into a vehicle before a driver left the park. The child was later reunited with a parent.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Western Oregon is enjoying an extending summer vacation from the rain. Only a quarter-inch fell at Portland International Airport from July 1 through Sept. 30, less than half the previous record set 60 years ago. It was even drier in Salem, which got a record-low 0.11 inches of rain during the three-month period.
