EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Investigators from the Eugene and Springfield fire departments are working to determine the cause of a fire at a Eugene-area home that left one person dead. Lane County Sheriff’s Sgt. Carrie Carver says a medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. The Register-Guard reports that the victim was not immediately identified.
FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) – The Lane County medical examiner says a man found dead on an Oregon coastal beach north of Florence last Thursday died of coronary artery disease. The Register-Guard reports the man has been identified as 57-year-old Allyn Ernest Bradford of Lowell. Oregon State Police say the autopsy found no evidence that Bradford was the victim of any crime.
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash that sent five people to a hospital. It happened on U.S. 97 near Klamath Falls in southern Oregon. The Oregonian reports police say a Chevrolet Trailblazer drifted from the northbound lanes to the southbound lanes Tuesday and sideswiped a commercial truck, then continued southbound until it collided head-on with a pickup truck. The victims ranged in age from 5 to 79. The truck driver was unhurt.
ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – The authorities have arrested a Stayton man accused of sexually abusing a girl he met while coaching basketball. Undersheriff Bruce Riley of Linn County says 46-year-old Dennis Holm posted bail following his arrest Monday. Riley says detectives learned that Holm and the alleged victim, who is now 18, met seven years ago when Holm was her basketball coach at the Cascade Youth Basketball Program in Turner. Holm’s next court appearance is set for October 24.
