PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Oregon is $4.07. That’s the same as a week ago and a nickel higher than a month ago. It’s 28 cents higher than the national average. Some metro prices from today’s survey — Portland $4.05, Salem $4.04, Eugene-Springfield $4.10, and Medford-Ashland $4.16.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – There was a shootout in Eugene between an intoxicated man firing a paintball gun and police firing rubber bullets and beanbag rounds. Police won. Officers took the 49-year-old man into custody last night after about 30 minutes. The Register-Guard reports the man fired more than 50 paintball rounds from his porch and front door and hit two officers. They had responded after his yelling and threats had alarmed neighbors.

REDMOND, Ore. (AP) – A high-speed chase of a stolen car ended with a search at a Redmond motel, but police managed to flush out the suspect. KTVZ-TV reports that officers were conducting a room-by-room search of the Best Western Plus Rama Inn when a flushing toilet helped give away the suspect’s location. The suspect had reportedly been driving a car stolen from California on Highway 97 at speeds topping 100 mph yesterday morning. The suspect’s identity and hometown weren’t released.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Clackamas County emergency responders say bystanders saved the life of a 60-year-old soccer player. The man collapsed while playing a game early yesterday afternoon. A doctor and off-duty paramedic used CPR and an Automatic External Defibrillator on the man, who was unconscious and not breathing. The Oregonian reports the bystanders delivered one life-saving shock to bring the patient back into a viable heart rhythm.
