Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press
SEATTLE (AP) – Russell Wilson found Sidney Rice behind the secondary for a 46-yard touchdown with 1:18 remaining, and the Seattle Seahawks rallied for 14 points in the final 7:31 to stun the New England Patriots 24-23 yesterday. The matchup between the Patriots’ No. 1 ranked offense and Seattle’s No. 1 defense instead turned in to a starring performance for Wilson.
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities say a Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive lineman fled police and crashed into parked cars while driving drunk, then was arrested. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that authorities allege that 22-year-old Alameda Ta’amu of Kent, Wash., was driving a sport utility vehicle the wrong way on Pittsburgh’s South Side at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday.
UNDATED (AP) – The top five in The Associated Press college football poll has been rearranged for a second straight week, with Florida, Kansas State and Notre Dame moving up in the rankings. No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Oregon hold the top two spots for a fourth straight week. The changes came behind them, where the Gators move up one spot to No. 3, and the fourth-ranked Wildcats and fifth-ranked Fighting Irish both jump two places.
UNDATED (AP) – Alabama and Florida are at the top of the season’s first BCS standings, making another all-SEC top two, with Oregon and Kansas State close behind the Gators. The Crimson Tide in first was no surprise. Alabama is an overwhelming No. 1 in both polls used in the BCS formula. Florida in second was less anticipated. The Gators are No. 3 in the polls, but rated best by the computer rankings. That gave them a slight edge over Oregon and Kansas State when the numbers were crunched.
