Siuslaw football standout Alex Snow is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The combination linebacker and running back was a key contributor to the Vikings’ Far West football victory over the Douglas Trojans. In the backfield, he carried the ball 14 times for 48 yards, but it was on defense where he made the real difference. Snow spent nearly as much time in the Douglas backfield as the quarterback, sacking him three times and continually breaking up plays and disrupting passes.
Honorable Mention is given to Siuslaw distance runner Katy Potter who broke the previous school record in the Cross Country 5-K, finishing 11th overall in the “elite” division of last week’s Concordia/Adidas Classic in Portland with a time of 18:14.4.
On the schedule today… Siuslaw Volleyball is on the home court this evening against the Brookings-Harbor Bruins… The varsity match begins an hour earlier than usual… at five. Reedsport is at home against the Bandon Tigers and the Mapleton Sailors are in Marcola this evening where they’ll face the Mohawk Indians.
