Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…
Siuslaw football standout Billy Jones is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week. The Sophomore all-purpose player scored two touchdowns in the Vikings’ win over Brookings-Harbor; the first on an 82-yard kickoff return in the 1st quarter; the second in the fourth quarter on an 11-yard sprint into the end zone. Jones carried the ball eight times for 46 yards, his longest for 23.
Honorable Mention is given to Ryan Smith who scooped up a loose ball on the Viking 23-yard line, returning it 77 yards for a touchdown. Smith was also six-of-seven for point-after kicks.
Prep Volleyball
It’s the final night of regular season Far West Volleyball tonight in Myrtle Creek as the Siuslaw Vikings take on the South Umpqua Lancers. The Vikings can clinch the league title with the road win. A loss could leave them in a tie with Sutherlin. The Bulldogs will host Brookings-Harbor… the Bruins are oh-and-nine in the Far West.
The Reedsport Braves have two games remaining in their regular season, they’ll face the Bobcats in Myrtle Point.
The Mapleton Sailors are in a league playoff at home this evening against the Crow Cougars… A win would advance them to another league playoff Thursday night at Lowell.
