OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – The Clackamas County sheriff’s office is searching for two West Linn Boy Scouts overdue since Saturday on a hike east of Molalla. Bradley Nelson and Jackson Chandler went for a day hike and their parents called for help when they did not return home. The sheriff’s office tells KGW both are experienced hikers but had never been to that particular trail before.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Police say a man was accidentally shot in the belly yesterday when he came across a loaded gun while going through belongings of his late father-in-law. Police say the gun was in a box, and the man may not have recognized what it was. The 58-year-old man was taken to Salem Hospital. Police expect he’ll recover.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon residents who live rent free on boats are facing eviction next year when they’ll have to move five miles every 30 days under new state regulations. The so-called “aquatic squatters” believe they are being targeted by the new rules, which become effective in January.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon is having one of its worst years for boating deaths in recent memory. The Statesman Journal reports that there have been 17 deaths in boating accidents. Boating deaths have reached 20 twice in the past 15 years.
