SEATTLE (AP) – Northwest residents might be thankful for a brief break in the rainstorms, if the forecast for tomorrow is correct. The National Weather Service says skies should be mostly clear on Thanksgiving Day, and there might even be a patch of blue. Rains bracketing the holiday could make travel difficult in places, especially for those driving over Cascade mountain passes.
MOLALLA, Ore. (AP) – A Clackamas County sheriff’s deputy says a collision with a commercial truck knocked a school bus onto its side near Molalla, Ore., injuring the two female students on the bus. Deputy Marcus Mendoza tells KATU-TV that the students were taken to a hospital as a precaution after complaining of pain. The injuries received yesterday weren’t serious.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon State Police say the number of courthouses that received bomb threats Monday has increased to 28. Authorities initially reported that 17 county courthouses were targeted in what apparently was a coordinated effort. State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings says the Oregon Judicial Department did a complete assessment yesterday. Twenty-two of the 28 courthouses were evacuated, along with a state office building in Salem that houses the State Police headquarters.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A former Marine staff sergeant has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography while stationed in Afghanistan. At his federal court hearing Monday in Portland, Ore., Corey McAdoo of Vancouver, Wash., said he took full responsibility for his actions. Judge Robert Jones called the case a “real life tragedy.”
