PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Emergency officials say a tour bus that crashed along icy Interstate 84 in eastern Oregon highway was en route from Las Vegas to Vancouver, British Columbia. Oregon State Police say nine people died when the bus lost control yesterday, crashed through a guardrail and ended up at the bottom of an More than a dozen rescue workers descended the hill and used ropes to help retrieve people from the wreckage.
STANFIELD, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police have released the names of the two men involved in another fatal crash on Interstate 84 in Oregon yesterday morning. Sixty-nine-year-old Freeman Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene of the single vehicle crash east of Stanfield. The driver is recovering from non-life threatening injuries.
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – A high rate of smoking has helped make Klamath County one of the unhealthiest counties in Oregon. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation ranked Klamath 31st of the 33 Oregon counties, noting that 24 percent of adults in Klamath County smoke compared with 16 percent statewide.
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – The National Guard in Pendleton expects to launch unmanned air vehicles soon out of the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport to train its 23-troop platoon. The East Oregonian says city officials are optimistic the high-tech industry could bring jobs to Pendleton and fill properties on airport land. The Oregon Army National Guard says the guard is waiting for FAA approval to fly the craft – commonly known as drones or UAVs – at the airport.
