Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland firefighters trying to help a teenager suffering from a possible drug overdose had to call police for help. Police say the thrashing 19-year-old bit a firefighter in the leg last night. Then, a 36-year-old man at the home locked the door and wouldn’t let firefighters leave for a short time. Officers arrived and arrested the 36-year-old. The 19-year-old was treated at a hospital for the possible overdose and alcohol poisoning.

FORKS, Wash. (AP) – Scientists are making their way to a dock that washed ashore on a wilderness beach near Forks, Wash. The state’s marine debris task force says the dock is considered likely debris from the March 2011 tsunami in Japan. John Chapman, an assistant professor of fisheries at Oregon State University, said recently that the Washington dock has the same dimensions and configuration as the one found near Newport last summer.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon legislators at their upcoming session will consider a bill to impose a per-mile charge on super-efficient or battery-powered cars. The Salem Statesman Journal reports the bill would require cars that get at least 55 miles per gallon, or the equivalent, to report their mileage. Government has long collected money at the gasoline pump to pay for building and fixing roads. Officials in Oregon and elsewhere have been trying to figure out how to raise that money from vehicles that use the roads but use gasoline sparingly or not at all.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – A person familiar with Chip Kelly’s plans has confirmed the Oregon coach will interview for the Buffalo Bills’ coaching vacancy tomorrow. The person said the interview will take place a day after the fifth-ranked Ducks play Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl in Scottsdale, Ariz. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Bills and Kelly haven’t revealed the meeting will take place.
