Siuslaw track and field standout Ashlee Cole is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The Viking Junior accomplished two personal bests last week at the Siuslaw Ice Breaker, winning the discus with a toss of 99-feet, 5-inches and the Javelin with a throw of 113-feet, 9-inches. Cole also finished second in the shot put with a distance of 28-feet, ten-inches.
Honorable mention goes to fellow Viking athlete Billy Jones who had a personal best winning the long jump at 20-feet, 11-inches. Jones placed first in the pole vault at 13-feet, one-inch and had a personal best to take second in the 100 meters at 11.84 seconds.
On the schedule…
Viking Baseball will be on the diamond twice today at the North Marion Tournament… facing host North Marion at noon, then going up against Hidden Valley at six. They go up against Valley Catholic tomorrow.
Viking Softball is also at North Marion where they’ll face the host team at noon today. Two games will mark the schedule tomorrow… noon against Central High School, then at two against the Canby JV.
On the college diamond… Oregon is at home for a non-conference game against the Portland Pilots.
