OAK GROVE, Ore. (AP) – An 85-year-old suburban Portland woman who fell 40 feet down a ravine behind her home has been rescued by firefighters. The Oregonian reported that Carol Fischer of Oak Grove was hospitalized yesterday in serious condition. Clackamas fire officials say a neighbor heard the woman calling for help and called 911. Fischer was found lying on rocks near a creek bed.
POWERS, Ore. (AP) – Coos County sheriff’s officers say a mushroom picker who got separated from his companions and then lost his way has been rescued after nearly two days in the southern Oregon woods. The World newspaper reports that 48-year-old Gene McLaughlin of Myrtle Point went missing Sunday in the Siskiyou National Forest. A cold and wet McLaughlin was found Tuesday afternoon, three miles from where he started.
SHERWOOD, Ore. (AP) – Police in Sherwood are looking for a man who robbed a woman as she was returning home in her wheelchair after withdrawing money from a bank. Capt. Mark Daniel says the woman told officers she was headed home yesterday from a U.S. Bank branch when a man stepped in front of her and demanded money, keeping his hand in his pocket and saying he had a weapon. The woman says she gave the robber all her cash and he ran off.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police had to deal with an incident right outside their downtown police station last night. An officer was making a traffic stop around 9 p.m. when the suspect driver collided with a couple of police cars. No one was injured. Police used a Taser to take the driver into custody.
